The LinkedIn Group (Free)

Membership of the the 16-year-old LinkedIn Group Business In Japan is as simple as requesting membership on LinkedIn, with a LinkedIn profile that is real and looks like a real person’s profile!

Getting value out of being part of the BIJ community on LinkedIn is about taking part, for example that might mean introducing yourself from time to time, becoming visible by interacting with people in the community, joining the Japan Events (Online & In-Person), and attending some of the drop-in audio and other online events and any other open to everyone in person events that come up from time to time.

Exclusive Business In Japan ‘Supporter’ or Premium ‘GoodPeople’ Membership (In-Person in Tokyo, Paid, Annually)

Supporter: Access exclusive member-only events and a Q&A forum to expand your network and gain industry insights. You’ll receive a digital BIJ ‘Supporter’ membership card downloaded directly to your smartphone (no app), allowing entry to BIJ community events. This gives you the opportunity to actively engage with the community by attending events and participating in the forum in order to build new relationships and find helpful information.

GoodPeople: Business In Japan is your ‘Warm Introduction Community’ and at the ‘GoodPeople’ level, BIJ is your dedicated network for finding strategic guidance, making valuable connections, solving problems, and creating new opportunities.

Everything in Supporter level, a Premium ‘GoodPeople’ membership card upgrade, plus direct access to me for advice and strategic introductions to other GoodPeople I know and think you’ll benefit from meeting – guilt free requests for help from me (Jason)!

You’ll also be invited to intimate micro-networking GoodPeople dinners curated by me, of around 8-12 people, where you can build rapport and explore potential synergies.

Eligible to attend Business In Japan Masterminds – exclusive opportunities to leverage the collective experience and extensive connections of fellow members through confidential peer feedback, joint business deals, rotating hotseats and privileged insights shared within a professional network of GoodPeople.

The most obvious benefit is having access to nearly 90,000 working professionals who as the group suggests, are interested in doing Business in, with or related to Japan.

Over 1/3 of the Business In Japan group is based in Japan, and we are an English-speaking community. Rest assured, if you’re joining as a member from outside Japan, you can communicate with the other members in English. Also, BIJ-hosted events and online discussions are all conducted primarily in English.

The paid membership levels above of Supporter and GoodPeople offer people in Tokyo or who visit Tokyo often, two ways to connect more deeply with the Community, to pursue synergy, to get advice, make more connections and to give back to the community and Japan.

As mentioned, we highly recommend you make yourself visibly active in the group. That means introducing yourself to the community on LinkedIn, and how you are connected to doing business in or with Japan. Plus, don’t forget to explain how you can support or help people through your business and/or services (don’t share this without an introduction though!) and how others can engage and help you too.

We fully welcome anyone to join our regular LinkedIn Audio and other online discussions. In addition, you may want to contribute your time as a speaker, if this is something that would interest you, please reach out to us directly via the contact form.

On top of that, you may wish to contribute as a guest writer to the BIJ website blog. Please make sure your proposed article is specifically relevant to Japan and can provide value to the broader community. Please contact us directly for more details via the contact form.

Consider joining as a Supporter or ‘GoodPeople’ to deepen your connections to other members.
