Ron McFarland has lived in Japan a very long time, working for large public Japanese companies & small family owned ones. He’s never worked for a gaishikei/foreign firm in Japan.

The senpai of all senpai I know for living and working in Japan (over FOUR decades!), he often represented his Japanese employer, the company, the brand & in many ways Japan itself, on business trips back to the US, in sales related roles – hence he has a LOT of experience ‘speaking for’ Japanese firms.
