Political Storm Sweeps Through Tokyo

Tokyo governor Yuriko Koike has started a political storm which has caused Japan’s main opposition party to collapse.

Her followers will now present the main challenge to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in this month’s general election.

But Ms Koike herself has said she won’t stand as an MP – ruling her out of a head-to-head battle with Mr Abe.

You can read about the political drama on the Japan Story blog by former BBC Tokyo Correspondent Duncan Bartlett. It is also published on LinkedIn.
